In 2018, the total installed capacity of various power sources increased by 6.7% year-on-year to 189948 million kilowatts, of which the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation increased by 11.7% year-on-year to 728.96 million kilowatts, accounting for 63.8% of the newly added power supply installed capacity. The newly installed capacity of wind power and solar energy accounted for 85% of the newly installed capacity of renewable energy.
Specifically, in terms of wind power, in 2018, the national wind power grid-connected capacity increased by 20.59 million kilowatts, and the cumulative grid-connected capacity reached 184 million kilowatts, accounting for 9.7% of the country's total installed power capacity, ranking first in the world for nine consecutive years. At the same time, offshore wind power construction has accelerated. Last year, offshore wind power added 1.61 million kilowatts of grid-connected installed capacity, a year-on-year increase of nearly 200%.
Zheng Shengan, director of the General Institute of Hydropower and Water Conservancy Planning and Design, said that last year, the newly started capacity of offshore wind power reached 8 million kilowatts, a record high. The report predicts that the development goal of grid-connected installed capacity of more than 5 million kilowatts can be achieved in 2020.
"This year is in a critical period of policy switching. Onshore wind power and offshore wind power have been rushed to install." said Wang Haibo, president of Xinjiang Goldwind Technology Co., Ltd., taking Goldwind as an example. The amount to be delivered this year is the previous year's 1.7 times, but there are still a large number of customers whose supply needs have not been met.
Photovoltaic power generation continued to maintain a rapid growth trend last year. According to the report, the newly installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation nationwide in 2018 was 44.26 million kilowatts, and the cumulative grid-connected capacity reached 174 million kilowatts, accounting for about 9% of the total installed power capacity.
